That's just silly. He was a 230 lb running back with world class speed, in an era when sports nutrition, sports medicine, and year round training didn't exist. Give Cannon the kind of off the field preparation these guys have, and he'd excel at this level. Would he be the GOAT? Maybe not, but he'd be elite.

Then maybe Cannon should have put up better stats. His Heisman winning year, he netted 598 yards and 5 rushing touchdowns with a 4.3 YPC average.

Heck (I just read the Cannon book), they were just starting weight training in football when he was in last (?) year of high school. It's a fools errand to try to compare long-ago players vs. today. Evolution is really a thing.....

He DID NOT WEIGH 230 pounds. His playing weight was around 207 to 211 pounds. Everything else you typed was correct and I agree with.
