U-ge for huge is common for Mid-City NOLA folks to say.
It's more of an accent affect than a mispronunciation.
If everyone in a linguistic group pronounces the same word the same way then it is not the individual's fault.
I hear and read people swing and miss on the subtle differences between "passed", "pass" and "past". Chalmations especially have a problem with it.
