this is a great idea. say you're trying to cut back a bit and so you're taking this weekend off. then next weekend tell them you're taking a little break and just don't feel like drinking. then never come off it. that way you don't look too judgmental and if you ever decide to get off the wagon you won't look like too much of an arse for going back on your word. you also don't look like you're trying to make some big attention getting statement like 'i will never drink again. ever.'

Tell him you found Jesus and now he's your drinking buddy.
