Yeah but the weapon in question was a pistol, not a rifle. I don't care how much of a marksman someone is-a pistol is a highly inaccurate weapon unless you are at close range. Which meant the killer had go get in close amongst them. Which leads one to believe that one or more of the victims knew him. Or that the killer appeared unthreatening.

Agreed, and I guess that goes back to the unclear picture the article gives about the specifics of the gunmen's maneuvers, proximity, etc. I'd have to read it again, but I remember them explaining it like he just kind of came out of the woods, and did it really quick.

what do we know of the Swiss banker that the husband was going to be dealing with at the end of the trip? How much might have he known about their personal lives? Might the brother have known about the wife's previous marriage and arranged for it to look like an honor killing? Might the brother have spoken to the banker and made a deal? That pistol used in the murders was only issued to the Swiss, German, and Finnish army until the late 1940s. Might it have been passed down to grandfather to son to grandson?

All very interesting questions that may never get answered.

It sounded like he shot the cyclist first, while coming out of the woods, then the dad who was able to get into the car. The Iraqi dad was able to get into the car and get it into gear before dying, but the car didn't get far (got stuck or hung up on an obstacle). Then he could have probably killed the two women in the car at close range, while also double-tapping the two men to make sure. The car was still running with tires spinning when discovered.

There was also some discrepancy about the order they were shot. The investigator said that they might never know for sure without finding the shooter.

Unless the older daughter was a reliable witness and could say how it all went down, but I doubt that.
