Okay, so I've been keeping up somewhat with the Neymar and Messi tax fraud cases, but I saw today that Mascherano was brought down with some tax charges as well.

Does anyone have any insight as to why this happens more notably in soccer than it appears to happen here in the states? Also, is it just a coincidence that all three of these guys play for Barca?

'Murkin sports stars typically play in Murka, so they only deal with the IRS. if i went to go be a lawyer in spain it would be much harder for the IRS to keep track of what i make, let alone what i owe them

also Europe, esp southern Europe, has issues with tax collection in general. Greece and Italy notably (i'd imagine Spain is up there)

article about being American and tax issues living abroad

now imagine being a 20-22 year old kid who is cocksure, making millions, and making it in all sorts of underhanded ways. do you REALLY think they're going to start forking over half of that european endorsement money they're getting paid in cash for a reason?
