Coming in from Texas for the LSU/Florida game. Where is a good spot to tailgate for Tiger fans before the game? Is there a guide or a spot to join in on the fun?

Literally everywhere on campus. Just walk around and tell people you're from out of town in for one game a year and you'll get the royal treatment.

Is this your first college football game?

I've seen the parking maps. Just not really sure where to try and go and also want to experience as much of the tailgating before the game as i can.

Look at that map and park in the Parker Coliseum parking lot. We call that the Ag Lot. It's free. Walk down South Stadium towards Tiger Stadium and then when you get up to Forestry Dr. you can take a right and be right in the middle of campus by the Union and Parade Grounds. The tailgates set up along the way are pretty impressive and only get bigger the closer you get to the stadium.

ok, thanks, but can you join the tailgates? Pay to join? etc?

You don't need to pay. I quick 2 minute conversation will get you beer and food. If that game is at night people will go all out with food too. You'll eat gator every way you can think of. Are you alone or in a group?

Just depends on what time the game is and how "creative" you want to be around the buildings. Not everything LOOKS like a parking spot.

no, there will be 4 of us.

That's not too bad. I'd maybe just bring a wheeled ice chest with beer. You won't go hungry. There's set ups all down South Stadium with huge bbq pits. You can also cut over by Ceba (Patrick F. Taylor) and head to the RV lots. Pretty much anywhere between Highland and Tiger Stadium will be jumping.

Welcome to join us in the old front nine lot, will have gator jambalaya or gator sauce piquante. Welcome to LSU!

Depends on what time the game is.
A lot of people are out there before 8 a.m. on gameday getting their food going early

Ok, thanks for all the info. Anything else is appreciated!

If you want to experience Mikes cage, the Parade grounds, Indian mounds, atmosphere and music get an ice chest on wheels and walk around, 95% of tailgates will offer you food as long as your not "actin an arse".
If you want to set up your own tailgate spot for the day park at the AG lot and look for a generally open spot early on in the day. With either option I would get to campus by 9am at latest unless you want to sit in traffic.

Don't forget to do the gator chomp as much as possible and wear Florida colors.
Just kidding. You do fine most places. Just look like you are lost. Start up a conversation with a group that has a nice lay out and you are on your way.
