Pretty much made my mind up my next trip is gonna be for a velvet buck. Any one ever gone on this type of trip? Thoughts?

I always just called this bow season?

Been bow hunting sown here for 15 years and I've only seen 2 bucks ever in velvet.
I'm talking about going out of state where the season opens up beginning of Sept

We have a ranch in the Black Hills of Wyoming. Season opens there September 1st. It's usually about 50/50 of velvet bucks to hard horn bucks that first week. However, booking a trip up there is the best hunting decision you'll ever make. Beautiful country and the deer hunting is top notch. Not gonna kill any booners but you'll have several opportunities at 125"-135" class bucks

I always assumed it was a matter of hoping for a late one, best of luck.

I've been looking at wyoming and north dakota pretty hard. Also Kentucky and even south Carolina (they open Aug 15)

Seven J and Trophy Ridge Outfitters lease the properties to our north. You could probably see our cabin from a few of their stands. Not sure about their price but I'm pretty sure the Realtree guys go to Seven J every year.

Seven j looks fairly reasonable but trophy Ridge is out of my price range. 3800$ for a 5 day hunt.
