I mean $830 for an alternator and battery (doubt that was needed) replacement is kind of absurd.
This is really the first time I've ever had car issues, so I'm genuinely curious. It seems like they did good work and had it ready same day.

$400
Waits says the average price to replace an alternator with a remanufactured one is $400, while Gunning adds that a remanufactured alternator on a typical, domestic car, costs about $300 to $500, including parts and labor. The price of a new alternator can run from $500 to $1,000.Jan 19, 2015
from google. add on another ~$100 for a battery.

Depends on the car, tbh.
Some alternators are high cost and can be difficult to change.
What kind of car?
A battery is gonna be around $100, at least.

Yep it is. Only way around it is swapping them out yourself and saving almost half the cost in labor.

Uh what kind of car do you drive? An F1?
I have an X5 and the battery at the DEALER is 600 which is a rip off.
Can you drive the car to another shop?
