What Saints did in 2013-14 was panic, what they did this year was complete opposite of panic. I don't like going for a bunch of big home runs with a salary cap. Saints actually got rid of some fat contracts and had a good draft. You really need alot of draft picks to build your team. It usually doesn't take but 1-2 years for players to develop enough to be good football players. Brees has, imo, 2-3 years of being elite, and at least another year of being good before he completely falls off.
Our Tackle situation should be really good assuming Peat develops for another 10 years or so. Center will be good for another 5-6 years depending on Unger's age. Of course we will need to address guard at some point. We should have a pretty dang good Oline by the time Brees is gone to put our new QB in. Payton needs to keep harping on defense the rest of Brees career so hopefully we will have a great one by the time he retires. I just wanna see us continue to have the type of offseason in the future like we had this year, minus the Gallette crap.
Eta: I don't consider the Spillers signing going for a big home run. He is somewhat expensive regarding running backs, but overall, not a bad price.

Panicked? We were picked by many experts to win the super bowl last year. Things just didn't work out, for many unlucky reasons.

Better think about getting him some receiving options as well.
