Did you calibrate your rig first?

Just to hit on a few points. 2, 4-D is not ideal for woody plants. It's more of a broadleaf killer. Triclopyr is a much better "brush" killer. Anything fibrous including tallow trees. You want to wait 6 weeks after spraying to plant though. Last, glyphosate which is just roundup can be had for less than 45 dollars for 2.5 gallon jug.

That's exactly what I do. I just use 1 oz per gallon and it works fine. I have a 15 gallon sprayer that goes on back of wheeler. I take a plastic water bottle and fill it up with Glosphate and that's a wrap. So I guess I use a little over a oz/gallon.

I've done many different options over the years, it actually was worse when I sprayed first because the grasses were tall and the chemicals didn't quite get on all of the trash grass. I highly recommend bush hogging first and then spraying after. With two tractors, four people, and two sprayers we knocked out 45 food plots on 2000 acres in just 2 and a half days... you got this man

I just have one plot tags was tall and hasn't been clipped. I sprayed the frick out of it so hopefully it will kill it all. The rest were clipped a few weeks ago so should be ok.

Cut before you spray or you are wasting chemical IMO.
I cut and wait 2 weeks then come back and spray new growth. Wait another 2 weeks and then you are ready for your first disk. Keep in mind, I don't cut all summer until end of July. At this point, most grass is between 2ft-5ft tall.

A farmer friend of mine suggested .025%, which is 3.2 oz/gallon. I use 54oz per 15 gallon tank which is a little more than .025%, but I want to kill the vegetation. I might be wasting some, but it works. My farmer friend got all scientific, talking about gallons per minute to speed of the vehicle and area of coverage with a 12ft spray area with a boom. He sprays 1,000 plus acres so he needs to be spot. I got a GPS app for my phone and determined that at 2.5 gal/minute 3rd gear was the right speed for my riding lawn mower.

it like to spray glyphosate before disking...kills all of the crap and accelerates the decomposition process...I would stick with glyphosate only though, so you don't accidentally spray something with pre-emerge in it that will keep your seed from coming up...

Farmer told me at 3-4 mph Id get about 2 acres sprayed with a 25gal tank. Was using his sprayer on the back of my truck. 3-4 mph seemed pretty damn fast bouncing through all those rooted up food plots ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)
