Official Comcast Xfinity X1 Thread

Or how the frick do I watch comcast on other devices in my house?
I'm just learning..so this is a WIP.
----------------------
A. DVR/on-demand to tablets, PCs and phones - Xfinity TV app (not X1 or "TV GO")
B. DVR/on-demand to other TVs; you'll need a Chromecast and at the moment, use 'cast screen' which will eat the battery on your phone so i'd recommend using a tablet until I've figured out a solution here. There should be a way to use localcast or something to do this but I'm still figuring that out.
It is possible to watch live TV on another TV using the Xfinity TV app, but only via screencast.
Its a much better solution for LIVE sports to use WATCHESPN and if you have HBO, use the HBO GO app because both support casting.
C'mon comcast. Provide a fricking WiFi HDMI stick as an option.
Running coax and big arse boxes to every TV in the house is stupid beyond words. ..except this word "MONEY".
I'm just learning..so this is a WIP.

thanks genius. the app doesnt:
a. support most live channels. you need hbogo, watchespn, etc. to get live tv for most things.
b. support casting to roku/chromecast/fire, etc.
i'm going to show how to get the most out of this even with a very disjointed experience.

Xfinity TV app allows you to watch live TV, change channels and access your recorded TV on any smartphone or tablet. I like using those devices to watch TV in the kitchen or in the backyard or in rooms where we do not have a TV. The app works quite well. I haven't tried to cast it to a TV yet, but I imagine you could do it if you have Chromecast or Apple TV.

It supports all channels to which you subscribe... Are you using xFinity TV or xFinity TV Go? There are multiple xFinity Apps.

"Xfinity TV" is the app you are looking for.

ok my bad for calling you a genius.
looks like this app is more what i'm looking for.
damn, ok..now just need a way to cast it without having to first 'cast' the phone screen and we're good.

You could use raspberry pis running android hooked up to those tvs. Pretty cheap alternative per tv compared to renting their stupid boxes. Now that I think about it, I should have done that for my office/man-cave. Son of a bitch.

they WANT you to lease those overpowered/unnecessary boxes for each tv in your house.
what would they gain by devising an xfinity 'stick' you could purchase for a small fee and put on every tv?
come on comcast. i still fricking hate you but this would make your life easier not having your poor installers having to run cables to every room in the house and carrying a truckload of those stupid boxes they spend 20 minutes configuring in every room.
ITS 2015. someone wake up comcast and tell them.
every other fricking app supports casting (ABC, NBC, WATCHESPN, HBO GO) that i pay for as part of xfinity..i just have to install a bunch of apps to do what i want instead of just one.
so i can 'hobble' along and get about 80% of casting support via 3rd party apps but not comcast itself.
they really dont have a reason at this point to not support casting.

I use Apple devices and cannot AirPlay or mirror my Xfinity TV app. Also tried going to the website in Safari and mirroring it there but it gives an error message saying you must view in browser only.
They have it locked down somehow. I end up just using my laptop + HDMI cable.

you can 'work around' the issue for most stuff by going directly to 3rd party apps like HBO GO and WATCHESPN or if you own an android device, you can 'cast' the entire screen although it will burn your battery down in minutes.
