I've been through it, here is my advice.
1. Stay the frick away from any Chiropractor. The bitch I was using nearly crippled me.
2. Ibuprofen helps with disk pain better than anything else for me.
3. Walk, walk, walk. It may hurt but walking will help more than anything else.
4. Learn to sit with better posture.
5. Stretches. Certain stretches work better for each person. The one that helps me is where you lay on the floor face down, then go up on your forearms, the continue to a sway back push-up pose with your back arched.
You can also stand, put your hands on your hips and lean back to arch your back. This one works better if I need to stretch at work. People tend to look at your funny if you just lay down in the floor...

Imo not likely to be pinched nerve if you feel it in your lower back. More likely need to strengthen core with abdominal exercises.

I had this two weeks ago. Was stepping out of my truck and my lower back locked up. Almost like shock when I would get up or get out of the car with a throbbing and tightness the rest of the time.
Went to the Dr. And got a muscle relaxer and did some yoga. Knocked it out in a week.

quote:I used to be a 4 handicapper until my back went out. Now, I'm a steady 12. I can still hit almost as far, but I had to change my swing and it took a couple of years to get where I could get enough swing speed without over-torquing my spine and the muscles in the lower back. I just can't practice or play as often and that really is what it takes to be consistent. I wish you the best. See a pain specialist. Get some good drugs. Soma is awesome as a muscle relaxer. Gives you about a 15 minute buzz, but doesn't make you sleepy and lasts 1/2 day.
I've had pain in the lower back recently and unexpectedly. I'm seeing the doctor soon but just curious. It's right above the tailbone in the lumbar region I guess.
50% of the time it feels fine.
40% of the time it be kinda dull aching and uncomfortable.
10% of the time it will be throbbing of moderate intensity.
4-5 times when standing up or sitting down, I've had huge jolts of very sharp pain that took my breath away and rendered me motionless for a couple of seconds and pretty damn sore for awhile afterwards.

Honestly does sound like a bulging disc. If so it will show up in a MRI.
