I read an article, and I can't remember the exact reason. I am pretty sure they view it as a pagan temple, and therefore it has to go.

This shite pisses me off so much and I don't know why. I just hate seeing something like this happen for no fricking reason.
They CLAIM its a false idol. Nothing should be protected or sacred besides Muslim holy sites. They also wish to erase history that is not in the Qur'an, making that the only story that is told...ever.
But this is the correct answer.
