Fishing near El Dorado Arkansas

I'm working in El Dorado Arkansas for a few months and would like to do some fishing while I'm up here. Looking for suggestions on places to go. Anyone have experience on Lake D'arbonne? TIA

There is an infinite amount of great places to set a hook in those parts. D'Arbonne is great for crappie, bass, and even catfish. The Ouachita River due east of El Dorado is also an excellent choice.

From land or boat?
What are you looking to catch?
I used to live there for three years and you can fish in a few spots near by.
Lookup the 'South Arkansas Arboretum State Park', then run West on Mt Holly and take a left on Audubon Dr. Take the road back through the neighborhood and then you can launch a kayak by parking on the side of the road under the power lines. It will show up as a trail off of Lakeview Dr. on the map.
Take the highway north to the city of Calion, it is about 20 minutes away. You can launch in lake Calion, lookup 'Crabapple Point Bar'. There is a public launch there. Launch and start fishing the first trees you see to your right and follow them across the lake. If you have sonar you will pickup the old creek channel which is a bit deeper. Fish the creek channel through the submerged trees. If you catch a hard rain you can fish the spill over damn by the river on the East side and the bridge by Ward Rd. The water will move there after it rains.
You can launch near Calion on the Ouchita river. Go through Calion then take a right (south) on the levee. You will hit a damn and public boat launch. Run south on the river and then take the first 'river' you run into on the left side. Bass fishing is good in this area. If you are in a non motorized boat, run on the highway past Calion, cross the bridege and take a dirt road on the right side, it runs all the way back to a public camping ground and boat launch.
Other than that most of the places are further out.
Felsenthal - East about 1 hour out in Felsenthal AR
Lake Columbia - West of Magnolia AR, over an hour
Ozarks - you can get to Lake DeGray, Lake Hamilton, Lake Catherine area in about 2 hours.
Red River in Shreveport is about 2 hours as well.
And Lake D'arbonne as you mentioned.

It would be by land right now but I'm thinking of purchasing a kayak or small one man boat. Looking to catch bass or crappie. Anything really. Just looking to get out and enjoy the outdoors.

Watch your speed on the access road going in and out of the plant. I was talking to one of the plant managers the other day and he said their security personnel are equipped with radar because of the number of people coming in and going out. He said any contractor who receives 3 speeding tickets is banned from the site.

Felsenthal can be good. Darbonne, especially at night.

Ole Geauxt has been fishing it for like 73 years so maybe he will show his face in here and give you some tips.
As 4 said, great lake for EVERYTHING. Widely known for catfishing.

Agree if you are going from land this would be the place to go, it is about 20 minutes out and you can access the river by land.
Head east to Calion, drive through the 'city' and take a right on the levee. You can walk out by the boat launch or drive down a bit and there are trails through the woods to spots on the river. It is a good spot to catch catfish from land.
Also if you are going to be working in El Dorado go ahead and stop by JJ's Barbecue, it is the best spot in town to eat. Spudnuts also makes some nice donuts.

I've been here for a little over a month and you're right about JJ's. It's pretty good. Other than that and hitting up Marilyn's after work there isn't too much to do around here. We hit up Johnny B's a few times a week for breakfast. The food is good but the service is pretty weak. Thanks for all the tips. I'm gonna go try them out when I get a day off.

I like fishing corney lake and corney creek.
There is a little lake called Kidd lake that is hard to get to but good fishing.
Both of these is very close to Lillie and you can access corney creek from the back of my families property. If I was around I'd show you.
El dorado is pretty boring, there will be a music festival the first weekend of October and I'm sure you can get plenty of snatch. I know a few that will probably give it up pretty readily.
Do you prefer blondes, brunette, redheads, skinny, think, or etc.......
