Question about The Gift (SPOILERS)

So, do you think Gordo raped Robyn? And if so, is Gordo or Simon the actual father?
I don't think Gordo raped her. I think he actually liked Simon's wife because she was nice to him. I think he just simply wanted to ruin Simon's life, which he accomplished.
But, then again, Gordo did some pretty fricked up shite and I wouldn't put it past him to go all the way.
Gordo put enough doubt in Simon's mind to make Simon question it. Therefore, if Simon requests a paternity test, his wife is certainly going to ask him why. How would Simon explain that? Therefore, Simon's fricked if he requests a paternity test because he has to tell his wife (who already hates him) that she may have been raped by Gordo.
Gordo tells Simon that the answer is "in the eyes". If you take that literally, the answer would certainly be in the eye color because only certain eye colors can be produced by two parents. However, you'd have to know for certain Gordo's eye color too. And if Gordo had the same eye color as Simon...well...Simon wouldn't be able to determine whether or not he's the father based on eye color alone.
ETA: Excellent movie. Very much enjoyed it.

I don't think he did. His point was that lies/stories can have just as horrible results as the actual act.

I don't think he did. Gordo was a weirdo but he seemed like a nice guy overall besides the whole killing the fish thing i guess.
And the eye thing is bull shite. Two parents with blue eyes could easily have a child with brown eyes.

Do you think Gordo planned this all from the beginning, or do you think at first Gordo was just wanting Simon to confess his childhood lie and apologize, only going to extremes when Simon turned out to be just as shitty an adult as he was a kid?

I don't think he raped robyn. And he doesn't need to tell her he is doing a paternity test, just swab the baby and himself and send it in to the lab.
Because of the ease of the paternity answer, I felt the film had a bit less impact than it would have had 10-15 years earlier.

Was a pretty good movie. Saw in the theaters.
But yeah I agree Gordo was gonna be cool til Simon showed his true colors again

No. I think when Gordo first ran in to Simon he truly wanted to put the past behind them and just reconnect as friends. I don't think he even wanted a confession at first. I DO think that he was slightly infatuated with Robyn. She was the kind of girl he wanted and had not found. And there was definitely a connection between the two of them.
The gift giving was a bit mush, showing that Gordo wasn't really wired right and had no sense of social proprieties. But Gordo was trying really hard to impress them.
It wasn't until Simon started to show his true self that Gordo went in to revenge/retaliation mode.
I think Gordo was good at heart and that his feelings for Robyn were pure. So he wouldn't rape her, even to get back at Simon. But introducing that suggestion in to Simon's brain was a perfect way to get revenge in a similar manner to what had been done to him.
