Ventura is terrible. You could see most of his arsenal in Friday's game. He refuses to pulL one pitch Samardzija before the seventh ( or basically any starter) and proceeds to watch the tying and lead homers get over the wall. Then he bunts in the eighth when behind in the game. The team is poor fundamentally - bad baserunning, they don't back up plays, routinely miss the cut-off man.
Ventura had been completely out of baseball for a decade before he was pulled into the managers job. He never sat on the bench, he never coached and he never managed a minor league team before then.

Brad's taken a below average bullpen, and taken them to a belower average than that. It does appear, however, that Al Avila, new GM, has Brad doing some different things these days (shifting, batting order, reliever setup, etc...)
