If you've been to Nola I'd say it could be compared like:

Bourbon = 6th St


6th is filthy touristy crap. Rule of thumb - if you can spot a dueling piano bar on the street, locals probably don't hang out there. Easy Tiger is cool though and Firehouse right across from the Driskell has a great happy hour. Otherwise you aren't missing much.

Shakespeare Pub has $5 pitchers of LI iced teas some nights that are strong as hell.

I don't mind dirty 6th as it reminds me of Louisiana. Kind of half tigerland half bourbon street but way cleaner than either.
