I was surprised to learn that you're not supposed to use TSA locks for firearm cases in the states. Is that the same in canada? I can just use regular locks and I will be ok?

From what the airline people told us, yes. Two of the snaps on our case locked with a key and that was all we needed... Also if you are bringing ammo I suggest putting it in the case with your guns so everything is in one place and that's all they will have to check.
