Haven't ratings already started to drop? The Walking Dead has been beating Sunday Night Football in the ratings recently. And it's been a regular occurrence not something that's happened just once or twice.

No.

It happened 5 out of 8 nights where TWD and SNF overlapped. However, those 5 TWD episodes were the only show of any kind that touched the NFL's ratings. 45 of the 50 most-watched TV episodes during the NFL regular season (i.e., fall/winter 2014-15) were NFL games. The other 5 were the abovementioned TWD episodes.

Also, for each of the NFL's 17 regular season weeks, an NFL game was the most-watched show on television. And we all know the playoffs rate much higher than the regular season.
