Florida State has the blessing of the Seminole Tribe of Florida brah. That's why they still use the name and imagery.

Just looked it up. They used to be purple and gold and the Wompus Cats. Students voted to rename the team and get new colors and chose red and black and the Aztecs. They felt the terminology was more representative of the southwest image than Wompus Cats or the 2nd place name Balboans.
