Ehhh. I haven't read an etiquette book in quite a while, but that's a stretch. I'd if you're seated first and a lady later joins, of course you stand. Many of us would stand even if a man joined because we intended to shake hands. I wouldn't stand at a business lunch if a lady got up to take a call or go to the rest room.
