Goodfellas is probably the GOAT movie for this category, excluding actual musicals.
Layla, the scene you mentioned, plus the "Opus" - the medley scene on the day he gets busted, where he's paranoid (but not really), coked up, etc. Marty has always had a strong relationship with the Rolling Stones and other musical groups
I mean, he directed The Last Waltz, Shine a Light, so he's intimately a musically oriented filmmaker who doesn't make musicals.
Although it only won a single Oscar, I believe Goodfellas is the film he'll ultimately be remembered for - his masterpiece, if you will.
