England is A LOT closer, but they're near their full potential. We can still expect to improve dramatically over the years.

I disagree. Tactically they are in the stone age. They could improve quite a bit just by trying to play the best side rather than fit every English player who plays for a top 6 club into the team.

This was kind of my thought too. The sport is obviously king in England therefor every young lad across the country is playing, and while I would agree they are definitely closer as it stands now it appears they are at their ceiling and still too far away. It just feels like the U.S. Is in its infancy still, and having a league that fans can support and grow with should only help.
I'm also wondering just how huge it is that the majority of our players are mid upper mid class suburban types? Do we need the sport to catch on in lower income urban environments? Or is that irrelevant, and skill development is the only thing truly lacking? Is there already a large enough pool of talented athletes for the USA?
