Put me down for Almaty. Been there a few times for work.
Its a beautiful part of the world, but difficult to reach.
I always say it is like the Star Wars cantina, as you go into a bar there, and it is ethnic Russians drinking with Iranians, while the Chinese are there talking to Mongolians, with the Pakistanis, etc, etc.
The women there are beautiful also.
I am sure some people will object, but there is a lot of horse meat eaten there.
The mountains around the city are easily accessible and a bigger version of the Rockies.
