Our 2 1/2 year old has played with the ipad and primarily iphone since I can remember. However, we do limit her time on it and do not use it as a babysitting device. There are learning tools, programs that she plays with on pbskids.org.

She can pick it up, unlock it and find the app she wants to watch or look at videos and pictures of herself. Literally operates the phone better than some adults.

To each to their own on how to raise their kid. Ours is just getting the head start on the technology futuristic world.

The Ipad technology today is a must for 2-3 year olds. It is really educating toddlers to levels never seen before. Unfortunately it is also creating a have-have not situation when school starts because the kids who on the Ipads playing educational games are really advanced than those kids who didn't have that tool at a young age.

We've never really let our 2 1/2 year old daughter play with them much. We are always commended on how well our daughter speaks, and the last Dr visit the Doc asked my wife if we let her use an ipad, etc. Wife told her no not really and she said that is one of the reasons why she speaks so well, that and the fact that we read to her every night....take it for what it is.
