re: How often do you go a day without spending any money?

I'm genuinely curious about this one: several posters have commented that they don't make daily purchases, but their spouses do. Is this b/c she's purchasing most of the items for household upkeep (food, toiletries, paper goods, other consumables) and for family clothing/entertainment? IOW, how much of this is "fun" spending (ie, lunches out, Starbucks) and how much is relatively necessary household spending, simply spread out over time rather than purchased in mass quantities once or twice a month?
