i picked leeds 15 years ago because they were the exciting young team that was somewhat overachieving and playing an exciting style. worst decision
everton also appealed to me and has been a close second to leeds in england because i liked certain players (rooney, lee carsley, gravesen, david weir, big dunc) and moyesy the GOAT.
other teams i would consider right now if i were in OP's shoes: arsenal(used to hate wenger but i love the guy now), southampton, stoke (let's face it the stokadelphia days are gone and they are somewhat likeable) crystal palace and swansea (they remind me of everton about 10-12 years ago, monk reminds me of moyes)

I'm with you, from just watching a ton of matches over the last few years I'd likely go southampton, palace, or Swansea. I love the way southampton operate as a smaller club without big boy resources, and Swansea are almost always very enjoyable to watch. The atmosphere at palace home matches comes across as incredible and they are the team that I'd probably rank as my distant second behind Sunderland.
