What Asik does well doesn't show up readily on the stat sheet, and what he does poorly makes people question how he's even in the league. There also a gross underrating both of the importance of rebounds to a team, and the difference between a good rebounder and a top 5 rebounder. Even though I get the value of what he does well, I do question the opportunity cost of a center that can't finish and a team full of penetrating guards. If we don't get Houston Asik this year, we'll probably regret signing him to such a long deal, even if it was structured to be able to stretch him after 3 years.

You say what Asik does well doesn't show up on the stat sheet? What about the bad things he does that don't turn up on the stat sheet?
Dropped passes that lead to lost possessions, fumbled balls out of bounds or right into the defenders hands, and rim rejections. Besides actual TO's that SHOW UP on the stat sheet, these 3 things that I mentioned happened Every. Single. Game. this season and DID NOT appear at the stat sheet.
When Asik gets the ball in the post, it's a TO, what is the opportunity cost here? 14 other players that could get a shot besides Asik is a huge opportunity cost of the offensive end. This situation will only happen though if Asik somehow catches the ball. When he fumbles the ball out of bounds, into the defense, or when it deflects off his hands, it DOES NOT appear on the stat sheet, bc if it did Asik would average over 5 TOs a game and less than 8 points.
Asik does not have full possession in these instances so you can't statistically give him a TO.

The argument for Asik having a low TO rate is one of the worst that can be made bc that's by far his worst flaw on offense, is turning the ball over and opportunity cost lost.

I didn't want this to turn into ANOTHER asik thread

I think the spacing in Gentry's system will help unclog things for asik. The finishing in traffic was the problem.

He was a bit better in the 2nd half after the addition of Cole and especially QPon due to their shooting abilities.

I know what Asik brings and blah blah all that, he basically adds another 10 mil to ADs contract since he's just there to "make it easy" for AD right? But, when people say the good things he does on D don't show up on the stats without mentioning the bad things he does that don't show up, they aren't making a fair argument bc he does just as many bad things that don't show up than the good things that don't show up.
