Yep.

But for some reason he chose to play college soccer - for 2 seasons at least. I'm not disputing that college soccer is not currently great. I don't think it is beyond salvation - yet. Just providing a little anecdotal evidence that if we were to improve college soccer, it could prove useful for the sport in the USA.

If by "improve college soccer", you mean allow the players to train/practice an unlimited number of hours and play a season that lasts through the entire school year, you MIGHT make the system a LITTLE more useful. Then, it might pick up the "late bloomers" and give them a chance to develop. However, you'd still be looking at a massive competition and coaching gap. And the NCAA would never allow those 2 changes to be made.
