Went there last night for the first time and wanted to leave a quick review.
Got there around 8:45 looking for somewhere in the area that might be lively at this time. Only 3 tables in the restaurant, but It was late on a Tuesday night so we didn't expect much.
Service was on point through the entire meal, but a little rushed. They did not close until 10, but we felt like the server was rushing us from the get go.
Started with some house margaritas. $9 a pop and nothing special.
Chips and salsa came over. Salsa was mediocre. Reminded me of Velvet Cactus salsa if you are familiar with it.
Chips were a mixture of tortilla and burnt plantains. We also ordered the quacamole for $8 which was a decent portion but just ok.
For our entrees we ordered the pork belly tacos, fish tacos and barbacoa tacos. 2 tacos per oder around $12. Very small tacos, but that seems to be what everyone is doing these days. All of the tacos were very good and full of meat. Pork belly with pineapple glaze was the highlight. Really great taco.
We also had the charro beans and rice as side dishes. I honestly think we should have sent both sides back. They had no taste whatsoever, did not look very appealing and were served lukewarm. Was very surprised at how under seasoned they were. We could not eat more than a bite of either option.
Total bill for quac, 2 drinks, 3 orders of tacos and 2 sides was $80 plus tip. Probably won't be going back. I agree with the above poster that said Mizado was leagues better than JS.
