I'm willing to bet it's more status than performance. I do most of my driving in Louisiana and Houston and at least in Houston you have the chance to open it up and see what the car can really do.
In Louisiana, there may be two or three stretches of road I can think of where you would actually enjoy driving a car of that caliber.
