Bonds had a Pull % pretty much the exact same as McCann. He may have hit the occasional one to left field, but the vast majority of his HRs were to center or right field.
And I'm not sure what going to elite hitters has to do with anything here, if most of the elite hitters are pull hitters then being a pull hitter is obviously not a big issue. Whether it's Pujols, Jason Giambi, or Freddie Freeman, they've all been successful as pull hitters.
It's actually extremely rare to find a good hitter who is not a pull hitter.
