My wife is INSISTING that we will be cloth diapering our son when he gets here in September. I can't WAIT to carry around a wet bag full of dirty diapers on a long hot day.....
I'm going with what she doesn't know, won't hurt her. If I have him with me on a longggg day out of the house, and she is at work. Disposable it is.
You might want to ease up on the complaining until you actually cloth diaper. Its awesome. You aren't the first person to realize that diapers can small; the wet bag is designed to keep the smell at bay.
If your wife is breastfeeding, cloth diapers are a natural compliment. If y'all are formula feeding, it might be a much more messy proposition. Breast fed stool is water soluble. Formula stool is... not.
Added benefits of cloth diapers is little to no chance of diaper rash. Happy butt makes for a happier baby.
Don't knock it till you've tried it! Good luck with the new baby.

Opus is a wise man.
Our daughter had an allergic reaction to the sodium polyacrylate in dispoable diapers, so we were forced to use cloth. She NEVER had a diaper rash after we switched to cloth diapers.
It IS more work than disposables, but it isn't bad once you set up a routine. If I had another kid, I'd use cloth diapers from the beginning.
