ATL Thread- International Signings + Manny vs Max

The Braves have agreed to sign 16-year-old Dominican shortstop Derian Cruz, the No. 5 international prospect for July 2, for $2 million.
Cruz is an explosive athlete with plus-plus speed, with scouts projecting him to be an 80 runner as he gets stronger. He’s 6 feet, 165 pounds and will need to refine some things at the plate but he’s a switch-hitter who has shown solid contact skills. Cruz trains with Javier Rodriguez and Rudy Santin and has played in the International Prospect League.

Dominican outfielder Christian Pache, the No. 21 international prospect for July 2, has agreed to sign with the Braves.
Pache, 16, is 6-foot-1, 180 pounds, drawing praise for his athleticism and potential to stick in center field. Those highest on Pache liked his righthanded bat despite some funkiness to his swing, with a strong showing at MLB’s international showcase in February helping his stock. Pache trained with Valentin Monero.

Peraza, Albies, Smith, Cruz... I like the direction the Braves are going as far as building for the future. Strong pitching, scrappy hitting, and speed.

Now is when you review the draft. You have to couple the draft with July 2nd. Teams have handshake agreements in place with a bunch of international prospects. Cruz would have been a first round pick if eligible. They are stocking the system well. I am a fan of what Hart and Cop are doing. Huge fan. This ain't a scene, it's a god damn arms race.

16 years old or not, I'm just pumped to see us sign a couple of position players.

I certainly am not an expert at scouting etc, but it seems that the philosophy of Hart is that he is setting up for the new stadium to host more than regular season games and a wild card game or two.

We finally beat the damn Nats.
Now we throw Banuelos in the fire against Scherzer. Good luck

Yep. The draft was still pretty iffy in the early rounds after the first pick IMO(time will tell as always), but otherwise Hart has done an outstanding job revamping us in a short period of time. Really like these two international signings.
Also, there are rumors going around that we have locked up/have a handshake agreement with the top prospect from next years international signing class, Venezuelan SS Kevin Maitan for like 4 mil or so (apparently Keith Law was saying this is the case according to what a few sources of his told him). He's supposedly a potential 70 grade player whose drawn Miggy Cabrera comparisons. That would be huge if it comes to fruition.

He's going to go for a lot more than that imo. That said, the rumors are that the Braves will be big players next year so Maitan certainly fits the bill. The kid is 15 years old and getting some off the charts type hype. Someone is going to break the bank and take a penalty for him.

Yeah, the amount seemed low to me as well since he is getting so much hype. But the Braves are rumored to be planning on going into penalty money next year in the international pool, so he would most definitely make sense.

We are going to make a couple more trades just for international bonus pool money for this year.

@Braves
@Braves and @OaklandAs completed a trade today, as ATL acquired International Bonus Pool Slot No. 53 in exchange for RHP Cody Martin.

I would expect more. I think we are aiming for an additional mil which would mean needing another 600

Yep, we have to make sure we balance out our international money so we can go nuts next year (hopefully).

the Marietta Braves might be decent.

Manny
Looking like he means to be up for good (or at least till he hits his innings limit).
Miller, Wood, Julio, Wisler, and Manny looks like it's going to be a pretty nice rotation next year. Particularly if Julio can get back on track and get out of his weird funk on the road.

Uribe has been very good since we grabbed him, hopefully we extend him.

Made another deal with the Dodgers, for about a Quarter mil in signing money.
So we are about 350 away from the target
