He was great in Tenacious D.

He's annoying as shite as an actor.

GOAT Jack Black:
Heat Vision and Jack

quote:

Heat Vision and Jack is a 1999 comedy/sci-fi television short directed by Ben Stiller and starring Jack Black, Owen Wilson, and Ron Silver. Christine Taylor and Vincent Schiavelli guest starred in the pilot episode, the only episode filmed. While the Fox Network did not pick up the show, the pilot gained a cult status and an online following. The show was written and executive produced by Dan Harmon (Community) and Rob Schrab (Scud: The Disposable Assassin). The pair also worked together on Channel 101 and The Sarah Silverman Program.

I've always been a Jack Black defender. He's in a lot of bad movies, but he's a talented actor.

Off-kilter Jack Black recommendation: The video game Brutal Legend.

Bobby Moynihan has been my favorite cast member on SNL for several years.

He's up there for me as well, but he's probably #2 or 3. Jay Pharoe is #1 (guy's something special) and then he's neck and neck with Cecily Strong (easily the best female cast member since Julia Louis-Dreyfus). Bobby sketches are always great.

I think so. While he's not a "serious" actor, he consistently delivers performances that should have exceeded the director's expectations - High Fidelity - he stole the film from Cusack.

He carried School of Rock. I didn't care for Shallow Hal, but not Black's fault. He was great in support in Tropic Thunder (in a film full of great performances).

And completely out of his element, at least for the scope and subject matter of the film, he was at least journeyman - if not a little better in King Kong, so that shows he has more range, potentially, if he wanted to stretch out. But, I'd probably dance with who brung me, too, overall, as he has.

And underrated as a multi-talent, in that his work in Tenacious D is overlooked when considering his acting resume.

I disagree that he's not a serious actor. "Bernie" alone is proof enough of that.

I also respect his performance in King Kong more than many seem to. He has that arrogant Orson Welles thing down.

I don´t know. What is the universal rating on Jack Black (in order to answer your question)?

He´s somewhat entertaining to me, at best.
