4&5BD: Another comparison, two of my favorite DIPAs. Double Jack bottled 05/08 vs. Space Cake bottled 05/04.
Double Jack is much clearer in appearance, as Space Cake seems very cloudy. SC's head stays together and clings to the glass more the DJ.
While DJ has always been in my Top 3 of best tasting DIPAs, I've said before I may even like fresh DJ over fresh Ghost (not sure about that after Ghost 5.0, though), the nose on DJ seems to be almost non-existent at time. SC wins out on smell. You can smell the booze on DJ much more than SC, though the ABV is only 9.5% vs. 9%.
The taste of Double Jack lingers on your tongue much more than Space Cake, though I'm not sure if it's because DJ is just boozier on the back-end. Both leave a bitterness at the end. Hell, part of me wants to lean towards Space Cake, which just completely screws up what I was expecting. I don't know what sort of conclusion to reach.
Now I need to do a 4-way comparison with fresh versions of Double Jack, Space Cake, Ghost and Burton Baton.
