Healing fine and lying about the severity of the actual injury are two entirely different things. Remember he had about 10-12 weeks to heal up before the trade happened, for all we know they told the Pels it was a minor injury and why would the pels suspect anything different?

They may not have even said that. He didn't miss any games at the end of the year.
