Not too unexpected that it would be Marquette. Probably didn't want to see an immediate rematch of LSU/NCSU (though that may happen anyway). Plus, MU has a big time Freshman forward coming in. Obvious promotion of he and Simmons going head to head.
Hopefully MU is much better than last season when they finished with a losing record and dead last in the Big East.
I'm sure I'll get blasted, but that's my problem with LSU OOC schedule as it's currently set. Outside of Oklahoma, there are a few "known" teams, but most were mediocre to awful last season. Plus, you are desperate to get people to come out to the PMAC, then you give them mostly a dogshit OOC home schedule to watch.
Kennesaw St (Nov 16, Legends Classic) - finished 7th of 8 teams in ASU conf.
South Alabama (Nov 19, Legends Classic) - Finished 7th in Sun Belt (12-21 overall record)
vs. Marquette (Nov 23 @ Legends Classic, Barclays Center) - Finished last in Big East
@ Houston (Dec 13) finished 10th of 11 teams in AAC
Gardner-Webb (Dec 16) - Finished 6th of 11 in the Big South
Wake Forest - Finished 12th of 15 teams in ACC
McNeese State - Finished 7th of 13 teams in Southland
@ College of Charleston - Finished Last in Colonial Conf (and we go there!!!)
Obviously there are a few more games to be added, so things could easily change. But right now, other than OU and the matchup between NCSU or ASU, there's not a lot of meat on that schedule. A bit disappointing in light of the fact that this may be LSU's best team since 2009 AND the hype is huge with the No. 1 HS player and likely first pick in the NBA draft coming in.
What are you going to promote in Nov and Dec? Come out to the PMAC to watch Ben Simmons and Co. beat up on a bunch of avg (at best) mid-majors?

I would say you are looking at last years results to much. Wake forest returns like there top 6 or 7 players. Look for them to be better for sure. Marquette returns most of their team plus the big time recruit they are bringing in. Look for them to be better. Nc state returns a good bit off of last years team so that will most likely be a good game even though it and Marquette won't be at home. They should give us a chance to build up some steam. If we are ranked people will come to the cupcake games. I thinks it's more about the perception of our team then it is who we play.

Not by choice.

Name will help get fans in the stadium. That's important.

Great with the fanbase we have in houston.

Another name that will at least get people excited. Most will be more excited for Wake Forest than a better small school... Just the way it is cause people don't follow NCAA Basketball much.

Totally okay with an instate school or two...

We've actually had some good games with them in recent past so I'm cool with it. Alot can change from year to year. Plus it will be a good away experience.
