LSUPD Officer Arrested for Felony Theft

BATON ROUGE - Investigators arrested an LSU Police officer after Louisiana State Police said she was caught skimming money from the agency's books over several years.
Authorities charged 46-year-old Carrie Richardson-Heckard of Denham Springs with felony theft. LSP said she was the treasurer for the LSU Police Association from 2006 to 2014.
LSU Police alerted LSP about the theft in January when an internal audit by a new treasurer showed more than $16,000 were missing from between November 2007 and June 2010. LSP investigators said they also found an unapproved $1,500 check had been made out for "cash" and endorsed by Richardson-Heckard, and charged her with that theft.
LSP investigators got a warrant for Richardson-Heckard's arrest and took her into custody Monday. She was booked into the Livingston Parish jail and will be transferred to East Baton Rouge Parish Prison later Monday.
Investigators said there could be more charges coming in this case as they continue to look through the audit's findings.
