I do not understand NBA salary cap, but why would we have to take on Haywood? Why couldn't we just free up that space if we were going to dump Anderson.

So, to make it simple, if we're over the cap, we couldn't just trade Ryno for a draft pick. We'd have to take back salary roughly matching Ryno's contract. Not saying we should or anything like that, but just to help explain, we can take back Haywood's contract for Ryno, then release Haywood before August 2nd, and free up that cap space.
Did I get that right, experts?
