How does the cortisone help? I've had poison ivy many times (including once when it covered my face and shut my left eye), but never had a cortisone shot.

It was probably a steroid shot. That is what I have to get if I get a bad case of poison oak/ivey

Edit: wife just told me cortisone is a steroid. I didn't know that.

The cortisone dries everything up immediately. My elbow leaked goo all day long and was dried up 2 hours after the shot. My nuts are pretty happy too now.
