I guess it really depends on what you like to do outdoors.
If you like Hunting and Fishing, the opportunities within 2-4 hours of Houston are pretty unreal. World class duck, deer, quail, dove hunting. Fishing opportunities within the same distance equally as impressive. Offshore fishing will take you a bit longer to get there than say venice/fourchon.

Without question. I was just referring to mainly the Austin area.

Austin has all of those outdoor features except good duck hunting and its a longer drive to the coast. The Hill Country is icing on the cake.
