Even after the baby comes he has several years before school

OP if you live in burbs and you and your wife work 8 hour days your kid is going to spend 50+ hrs a week at daycare

Eta: we would wake up, get kid dressed, drop him off at daycare, pick him up, bath/feed, put him to bed, repeat

That's almost anywhere. Drop them off 30 min before and pick up 30 min after and you are looking at 45 hours a week right there.

I truly enjoy where I live much more than where I lived in LA and my commute used to be 12 minutes. The commute isn't fun, but it isn't as horrible as it seems (granted I'm in O&G and can come and go as a please a little more freely than most). My wife works in The Woodlands just 2 minutes from daycare. Places like The Woodlands have a lot of opportunity for work, so it's not necessary for both to have to work downtown.
