Baton Rouge people......Cajuns.............
While Baton Rouge is far from a Cajun area, there are of course Cajuns as well as People from the Louisiana French Creole heritage that reside here, and truth be known, if you've lived in this state long enough you can probably find some Landry in your tree, but you're right. BR and Cajun do not really go together. My family is from down da rivah. and more creole with a sprinkle of Cajun mixed in, but I'd say most people from BR have a lot more Scots-Irish Mississippi in them than Cajun.

Oh I agree. I grew up north of Baton Rouge (hardly no culture whatsoever there), moved to Lafayette at age 19 and married a Cajun woman.
I'm actually Scots-Irish and German myself.
Being that I have lived in both places about the same amount of time, it allows me to see both points of view. I can tell you without a doubt, I didn't know what South Louisiana culture really was until I moved to Lafayette and spent time around places like Opelousas, Church Point, Eunice, Ville Platte, Abbeville, New Iberia, etc.
I can also tell you that I have never met a Cajun from Baton Rouge LA.

I am from Omaha, lifelong Nebraskan (aside from a few years of poor judgment when I lived in a neighboring state). I can guarantee that no one thought of ULL (whatever that is) when writing/editing this article. Just because I live in Nebraska, people from other states call me a Cornhusker though no one in my family has attended UNL.
Omaha LOVES LSU. Omaha comes out for the CWS like no other event when LSU is here. I assure you this was not meant as anything other than positive. Have you seen any other team on the front page of our newspaper? LSU fans are the most awesome bunch of people ever, and I think that is all that was intended to be said by this article.
