Exactly. Hell, you couldn't have put on Modern Family in the 70's, without turning the gay characters into Marty the queer purse snatcher from Barney Miller (flaming, cliche, and predatory).

Shoot, I remember when ER was groundbreaking because it was so beyond Marcus Welby, MD and Trapper John MD. And when The Sopranos came along, it made ER look as lame and hokey as junk from the 70s.

There are a ton of really good shows on basic cable, premium cable, Netflix, Amazon, etc. Stuff with really good actors and actresses, well-written, movie quality production values, interesting music
