The star of the class turned out to be linebacker Myles Jack, who also spotted at running back and eventually won Pac-12 Freshman of the Year on both sides of the ball.

Willis played in nine games, mostly on special teams, and ended the season with nine tackles. He admits he lost confidence.

“It wasn’t the year I wanted,” he said. “I wasn’t happy with it, but everyone learns differently. Sometimes, you can’t just be a Myles Jack. Sometimes, people learn much slower. That was the process for me.”
