Yall got any recommendations for guides that leave from the Big Lake side of the lake (as opposed to Hackberry)? Looking to fish some specks, reds, and whatever else they can put us on in the lake, or on the coast.

We are staying at a camp on the big lake side, and I am unfamiliar with how the guides distinguish the sides of the lake they leave from. I called one just now from a thread on here and they're on the hackberry side. TIA for yalls help.

You said 'Big Lake' so I am assuming you mean the camps near Hebert's landing. The Poe's run Big Lake Guide service; Sam Bordelon runs Contraband Charters, Josh Johnson runs Triple J Charters. Went to high school with some of those guys. There are others that keep boats in stalls right there at the old marina but I can't think of them now. Sure you will get mixed reviews but I think they are all good choices.

try to get with the poes.... preferably with the wife. there are a shite ton of guides out there, but not all are good.
eric rue is another, but he can rub people the wrong way... he seems to catch fish though.

Never personally fished with him but a good friend of mine has had great things to say about Waltrips guide service "W". Said he's a fun guy to fish with and flat out catches fish.

They all stay on the phone with each other all day so one will be as good as the next.
