I know a rep who was a used car salesman before he got that job. He does a good job (He is somewhere else now) but was hired do to sales experience.
And yes they all go door to door.

They don't all go door to door but yes that is the secret sauce the Ed jones reps are trained on. Really it's all about a game of numbers and how many people they can contact. However if you think you can reinvent the wheel and do a better job at prospecting and finding your clientele then have at it.
You can build your business however you want, they are just telling you from experience what seems to be the most efficient way of doing it.
