That's basically the same question that I'm asking. Oregon fan thinks LSU fans are butthurt about Mariota, and I'm a little confused as to why he thinks that. My only guess is that he's still feeling the '11 beatdown. The correct answer, of course, is that we aren't butthurt about Mariota.
I don't think you're butthurt about Mariota. I think you're a little dogmatic in a traditional approach to football. A successful Mariota in the NFL is a threat to that tradition.

Not any more of a threat than Russell Wilson and Cam Newton. It would shatter the Oregon QB narrative, which shouldn't apply to him because none of Oregon's previous QB's were in Mariota's class. He's by far the most accurate and talented of any Oregon QB.

quote:Are you speaking about me, specifically? Because I'm not sure how you arrived at that conclusion. I don't have anything against QBs that can run. Although, they haven't been consistently successful over the course of time. Regardless of the prominence of spread elements creeping into the NFL, success still largely seems to favor the statues with strong arms and big brains (i.e. "pro-style"). In that regard, Mett is a prototype. I have nothing against Mariota, whatsoever. I loved watching him in college, pulled for Oregon in the NCG, and thought he was deserving of his accolades. I just think that Mettenberger is a more viable candidate around which to build a franchise.
