In demographics, I agree they are different. In atmosphere they are similar, although Broadway is far less trashy. Broadway is more similar to Beale than anything in the FQ at least. Obviously pictures don't tell the whole story but if you look at pictures of the two streets, they look virtually identical.

I'll agree it doesn't have the residential aspect like the back of the French Quarter, but its MUCH MUCH MUCH safer and has TONS of bars, restaurants, and entertainment.

And its only a couple miles from midtown and residential areas.
